Abiquiu Land

Abiquiu Land

I imagined visiting my friend's land in Abiquiu, New Mexico. Abiquiu, the land where Georgia O'Keefe made her home, is gorgeous, color-saturated, otherworldly country. The colors on display in the earth there are soft yet vivid, dusty yet solid. My memory of having been there previously allowed me to portray it in the present. I once told a psychic that I wanted to be in Europe again; she replied that I could experience the place through my memories without having to be there physically. I was doubtful and unsure of how I would achieve what she relayed to me, but I agree now - Place is an Experience that our bodies remember. Dry pastel, oil pastel, oil paint, and graphite on 10x10 in. Canson acid-free, brown stock paper.
